Marlene Lidbäck

Marlene’s Own Words About Her Authorship:

What ties me and my red thread as an author together is my deep interest in psychology, human behavior, and social issues. I have completed several trainings in personal development, which I draw upon in my writing. One manuscript assessor has noted that my genre could be described as psychological drama—something I appreciate and want to continue developing.

My strong interest in society and human behavior shapes the themes of my stories. I aim to provoke thought and spark reflection, whether I’m writing for adults or children. A key driving force in my work is my ongoing curiosity and desire to stay informed about current phenomena in today’s world.

In 2018, I published my first book, MOD – att känna in, a compilation of various approaches to personal development.

In 2021, my first children’s book (ages 9–12), Greenpys – det osar skumt, was released by Visto Förlag. It received a 4/5 rating from BTJ and a request for a sequel.

In 2022, I published my first novel, Stjärnhus, also with Visto, followed later that year by Stenkast, a standalone sequel. The third and final part of this thematic trilogy, Fristadsö, will be released in August 2025. As I move forward, I’m shifting the theme but keeping the same characters and setting.

My second children’s book, Greenpys och mysteriet på Ljusglimtagård, will be released in autumn 2025. I’m also a visual artist and create my own illustrations for the children’s books, as well as artwork for my covers.

A stone’s throw

A stone’s throw” is a mixed-genre novel with elements of relationships, suspense, psychological drama, and romance. Back cover text – Stenkast (A Stone’s Throw)

Ludvig has finally found his father, and Simone now runs a book café. Liv is the one left in limbo, longing to be reunited with her mother—who is no longer alive. Lily begins to truly live only a year before she’s expected to die, and she realizes there are things she deeply regrets. Lisa is torn between the demands placed on her and the alcohol she uses to endure them.

The women’s shelter Stjärnhus is becoming a vital refuge for vulnerable women and children—at the same time as Lisa drifts further away from it, from herself, and from those she loves.

Georgi arrives in Åland from a poor country, hoping to earn enough money for a better life. But instead, he finds something else—something that pulls him into dreams of a different future.

Then, one day, everything comes to a head. In the space between intertwined souls and strong bonds of friendship, fear begins to take root. Hatred seeps in from the streets into the most private spaces. And when the unthinkable happens—where will strength and action be found?

Stenkast is the standalone sequel to Stjärnhus—a story of betrayal, power, helplessness, and the deep ties that bind us in the name of love.

Review excerpt from Ålandstidningen:

“Lindbäck masters the art of bringing characters to life and making them believable. Psychological patterns are made clear and give the story depth.”
