Jakob Sverker
Jakob Sverker is the author of the twice Selma Prize-nominated Europe Trilogy – political and philosophical thrillers exploring the future of Europe, where a Swedish foreign correspondent in Paris confronts an authoritarian movement. His fourth novel, The Island Council (2021), is an existential thriller set during the filming of a reality TV show in Southeast Asia, where the participants are suddenly caught in a violent military conflict.
Jakob has an academic background in literary studies and a professional career in IT. He also works as a writing coach, offering courses in literary analysis and collaborative writing, drawing on his experience with agile, distributed teams in the e-commerce sector.

The Council
“The Council”, Jakob’s fourth novel is a philosophical and existential thriller in the same spirit as the “Europa trilogy”.
"The Council" is about the recording of a reality TV series called "The Shipwrecked" on a deserted island in Southeast Asia. In the country where the film crew and participants are located, a local uprising quickly escalates into a larger conflict. A faction of the military occupies the neighboring island to where the recording is taking place, which has dire consequences.
