Marcus Tallberg

Marcus Tallberg is the author who intertwines personal narratives with social issues, creating stories that both engage and educate readers about minority groups, identity, and belonging.

Tallberg isn't just known for his groundbreaking novels – he has also built a significant presence as a lecturer and entrepreneur where he openly discusses issues related to LGBTQ, mental health, and social justice. With a voice that is both authentic and courageous, he often challenges his audience to think beyond established norms and speaks candidly about the importance of representation and being true to oneself.

Marcus's creative universe extends far beyond the pages of his books. His storytelling is deeply rooted in his commitment to minority issues and the dream of a more inclusive society. In 2017, he founded the publishing house, Tallbergs Förlag – a platform for voices that are often overlooked, giving readers insight into stories and perspectives that challenge and enrich. In 2022, he sold the company, but it still continues on, working on important issues. His works are not just about entertaining – they're about making you think, feel, and question societal norms.

Born in 1989 in Trollhättan, Sweden, Marcus debuted in 2008 with the novel "Bögjävel" ("My Queer Teen Life" in English) co-authored with Emma Björck. The book was republished two years later and became an important resource in Swedish schools across the country. Marcus has since developed his authorship and written several acclaimed books in various genres, always with a focus on inclusion and representation.

In 2018, Marcus published the fantasy novel "Kraften" (The Power), the first part of the Kraften trilogy, which was translated into English in 2021 under the title "The Orphan." The book is set in a dystopian future after a catastrophe where the world's superpowers have united under the authoritarian President Daegal. In 2020, the sequel "Drömfångaren" (The Dreamcatcher) was released, following a group of young people who flee from a military school and consider starting a revolution.

Marcus has also published the semi-autobiographical novel "Splittrat Glas" (Shattered Glass), a story about a complicated family history and the pursuit of happiness, as well as "Att vara Alice" (Being Alice), which tells the story of a young transgender person navigating their identity with the help of a mentor figure from the drag queen world.

Marcus Tallberg lives in Gothenburg and continues to work for increased visibility of minority issues through his authorship, lectures, and publishing activities.

MARCUS TALLBERG is a Swedish author passionate about storytelling that combines emotional depth with thrilling mysteries. The Rudby Chronicles represents a natural progression from his earlier works, focusing on complex character dynamics and hidden family secrets. His inspiration for Bloodlines stems from his interest in exploring relationships under pressure—particularly the bond between brothers—and how those connections evolve when faced with supernatural forces.

During a six-month stay in Brisbane, Marcus reflected on personal growth, shifting relationships, and the challenges of self-identity, themes that heavily influenced the story's emotional core. His writing appeals to young adults, addressing themes of self-discovery, familial obligations, and the intersection of reality with the supernatural.

The Rudby Chronicles - Bloodlines

Bloodlines, the first book in The Rudby Chronicles, is a young adult novel blending supernatural mystery with the complexities of family dynamics and brotherhood. The story follows Q, a teenager who moves to Rudby to live with his older brother, Pedro, after their mother’s death. Unbeknownst to Q, both he and his brother belong to a community of shapeshifters, a secret that becomes central to the unfolding mystery.

As the brothers struggle to reconnect, they are drawn into a murder investigation that shakes the town. To uncover the truth behind the mysterious death, they must navigate their strained relationship while confronting the challenges of their hidden identities.

Bloodlines will resonate with fans of supernatural mysteries like Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. With its eerie suspense and emotional depth, the story is ideal for young adult readers who enjoy a blend of personal drama and supernatural intrigue. Its rich world-building and character-driven plot make it an excellent candidate for film or television adaptation.
