Ada Caël
Born from the mythical forests and blue-tinged hills of Hälsingland, Ada Caël delivers innovative and enigmatic stories that capture the reader’s curiosity. With a common foundation in the supernatural, her works embrace the balance between delicate beauty and sharp rawness. A love of the unpredictable is a guiding light in her writing, just as much as the playfulness of a runaway imagination.
Inspired by music and visual impressions from art and nature, she creates breathtaking adventures edged with both darkness and light.
On a personal level, Ada Caël leads a peaceful family life with her husband and son on an old Hälsingland farm in a fairytale landscape bursting with Swedish cultural heritage from bygone times. With music, writing, and creativity in her genes, she loves living at the borderland between the analogue and the digital. She tends flowers as eagerly as she plays video games. Classical music and deathcore play in her headphones while she writes, and her hair changes color depending on mood, season, and feeling. It is the contrasts that add flavor to life.
The dream of writing a book came when she was in her thirties, although writing had been with her since childhood. She began keeping a diary at the age of twelve and continued through all her teenage years. At fifteen, she switched the language she wrote in and practiced an elaborate cursive style so that no one could read it. Alongside the diary, she wrote short stories she never shared — mostly as an outlet for her creativity.
In 2024, she debuted with Ting, the first book in the Otherworld series.

Ting
When Heli wakes up at the Wood Palace, in a world of fairy tales and legends beyond the borders of our everyday life, her journey through the fantastic Otherworld begins — a place where myths live and folklore becomes reality. But Heli is no creature of the Otherworld — she is human, a stranger in a world that does not welcome her.
In the Otherworld, the rules are different, and its laws are governed by the ancient powers that dwell there. In this wondrous landscape, Heli hears about the Myriad — the bloody and brutal sport where survival is the only thing that matters. She also learns that her mother not only lived at the Wood Palace but was involved in a trial with serious consequences due to an inappropriate relationship. A relationship between a being and a human is strictly forbidden — something Heli’s mother never uttered a word about.
Lo, a shifter and one of the players in the Myriad, quickly notices the strange newcomer to the Wood Palace. There’s a scent surrounding her that he has never experienced before, and it piques his curiosity. As he is appointed captain of a new team, strange things begin happening around him, and Lo learns that things are not as they seem. He also finds himself drawn to the scent the newcomer exudes.
Ting is a captivating fantasy novel that weaves together traditional folklore with a modern twist. A journey through a world where anything is possible, and nothing is as it seems. A tale of courage, friendship, and the magic that exists just beyond our line of sight.
Rewiew:
“Ting is a captivating blend of Nordic mythology and contemporary fantasy, where Caël has managed to create a world that feels both ancient and yet entirely relevant.”
“The language is like painterly brushstrokes, sometimes broken by humor and sentences that give you a playful jab as you read. It’s never boring.”
