Jessica Roseen works at a web hosting company, specializing in domain names. She holds a degree in Media and Communication from Örebro University.
She has been writing for most of her life. Her debut novel, Klippan, was published in 2021 — a fantasy story filled with humor, intriguing characters, and high stakes. The book sold out completely and received glowing reviews from readers of all ages.
Jessica is now launching her new urban fantasy series for young adults, The Irhenäs Series. Set in present-day Sweden, the series follows characters with the power to control one of the four elements. It's packed with drama, excitement, and mystery.
In her writing, Jessica always includes LGBTQI+ themes. She is committed to creating worlds where people of all sexualities and genders are welcomed and normalized. In the past, she has worked with editors who questioned her inclusion of non-straight characters without making it the main conflict of the story. This only strengthened her resolve to feature characters who break the norm — heroes whose identities are never in doubt, and whose challenges have nothing to do with who they love.
In her free time, Jessica loves to LARP (Live Action Role-Play). She began writing The Irhenäs Series as an outlet for the many experiences she's had during LARPs — from dangerous encounters with supernatural creatures in the woods, to taking part in magical experiments, and even being secretly cursed by enemies through dark rituals.
She also loves how LARPing allows her to step into someone else's shoes for a while. Even without the supernatural elements, she gains insights into how different people think and experience the world — insights she weaves into her writing.
Jessica is currently working on a new fantasy series where myths and legends intertwine with the modern day, creating a world of mystery and deadly threats.
